One day trip to the Aran Islands

aran_island_trip_livia_figueiredo_26.jpg

A small break on the wedding posts to share our one day trip to the Aran Islands!

I was down in Connemara for a wedding and that was a perfect excuse to do something that my partner always wanted to do: go to the Aran Islands.

Since we live in Ireland Gianluca always said he wanted to go there so after the lovely wedding at Rosleague we decided to give it a go on the next day, the weather wasn’t amazing but the Islands were! That’s the beauty of my job is that I get to travel all over the country and is great to able to share with my partner (and as you will see later in the photos, every time I see good lighting I get him to pose for me, so there’s some of that to look forward lol).

The Aran Islands were such a beautiful place, just proving once again that Ireland is freaking amazing, we got a bus tour with a lovely man who showed us around (there’s several buses just when you leave the ferry, not really a need to pre book, in my opinion, and they all do the same kinda tour) you get to see most of the island in a few hours.

If you are considering going I would say DO IT! Beautiful locations and lovely crowd (there’s a lot of tourists so maybe bring a sandwich with you because the restaurants are usually packed, specially around lunch time) .

We finished the day having some lovely food and great memories, hope you enjoy some of the photos

Surprise T-Rex Couple Session - Wedding Photographer Dublin, Ireland

I received an email from Meredith saying that she wanted to a couple shoot as a birthday gift to her boyfriend and there was a small request: she wanted surprise him with a T-Rex costume and do part of their couple session dressed as dinosaurs I almost fell of my chair with excitement!

First, everyone knows I love a session in town so what can make it better? T-REX COSTUMES, THAT’S WHAT!

So me and Meredith planned how to keep this a secret and go to the session as usual and reveal to her boyfriend when we stop for a pint and the rest is history!

I have to say it was a challenge to walk with them in the middle of the city centre, a lot of people were stopping, taking photos and even a kid stop to hold their hands which was very cute. But it was all worth it, I never laughed so hard in my life!

Anyway, I hope you all like the images and that brightens your day as much as it brightened ours :)

How to choose your wedding photographer: finding the right one made it easy | Dublin Wedding Photographer

s+e_bellinter_house_wedding_photographer_livia_figueiredo745.jpg

Weddings are amazing but they can also be a LOT of work!

Through the years a lot of my couples said that finding the right supplier in a sea of options can be overwhelming so here is a few tips make your decision a little bit easier from someone inside the wedding business industry.

WHAT MATTERs TO YOU

Obviously the whole wedding day is very important, but knowing what images you imagine printed all over the house is a good start.

Would you like portraits of you two printed in your living room living room or getting candids of your guests in a wedding album is more important? The family portraits are the thing you can’t miss or do you prefer having more images of the day it self? Knowing what you want is very important, sometimes is not one thing or the other, but establishing what your priorities are really helps.

H&M_Preview_05.jpg

what STYLE YOU LOVE

Do you like more bright looking images or dark and moody is your thing? Do you prefer more traditional “looking at the camera” pictures or unposed? Maybe something more creative is your style or even something completely documentary? There’s a huge amount of talented photographers out there and they all have a certain style so go on Instagram or Pinterest and save a good bunch of images you like and see what they have in common, that’s probably the style you are looking for!

LET’S TALK ABOUT MONEY

Budgeting for a wedding can be hard and is not always easy to know when to cut corners, but trust me when I say this: you should approach wedding photography as an investment.

I know that we all want to save money maybe to get a fantastic honeymoon and I’m all up for that (give me a beach and a cocktail and I’m in heaven!), but when deciding where to invest your money, wedding photography is the most important thing left from your wedding day (specially if you decide not to have a videographer).

All the months planning are worthless if you don’t have a professional that can capture the day properly. That day only happens once and finding a professional that can capture in a outstanding level is priceless.

RESEARCH

Recommendation is key, learn from the resources available to you.

Ask friends and family members for referrals, read reviews from the photographers past couples online, they all matter. Ask to possible wedding photographers to send you full galleries of their work and look for consistency in different scenarios and have a chat with them before booking, make sure they are knowledgeable and ready for whatever type of wedding you will have, a few pretty images on social media is not enough!

COMMUNICATE

Professional wedding photographers deal with a big amount of requests and concernes throughout the years and it’s our job to listen to what a client wants and communicate to make sure we are the right fit.

Sometimes is being in front of the camera is a big fear for you, or maybe is the timing the day is being a challenge or maybe you have no clue what you want and just need someone to help, whatever you need your photographer should be able to shine some light into, trust the professionals, we seen it all.

GET TO KNOW YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER

Everyone has busy lives but take the time to chat/meet your photographer before hand, make sure you are on the same page because they will be the person you will see the most on your wedding day and when that trust is there it can make the wedding day 10 times better.

When there’s trust between a photographer and the couple not only the day go smoothly but the chances are taking photos will be not something you need to do, but that you enjoy doing it!

Sometimes taking the time for an engagement session (where we can actually practice, get to know each other and see the results) is the best way to create that bond before the wedding day, so if you have the opportunity I highly recommend it.

I hope you like these tips, I’m planning to share more wedding tips soon so keep an eye out! If you want to be the first to see everything wedding planning related that is coming out subscribe to my newsletter.

Lots of love

U+K Preview - University Church - Fallon & Byrne - Nolita Wedding Photographer, Dublin Ireland City Wedding!

nolita-fallon-and-byrne-dublin-city-wedding-livia-figueiredo.jpg

Last Saturday I was back again in Dublin City Centre for another Dublin City wedding in Fallon & Byrne (which is some of my favourite wedding venues for Dublin City Weddings)!

This time we were in a few spots in town, one of which I haven’t been before. Nolita is a bar located just on George St and the couple had their drinks reception there and I was so excited to have some photos inside because it looks STUNNING! Definitely want to go back there for a few more photos in the future, there’s so many cute corners!!

So here’s a preview from the photos, we had a great time going around town and even though it was super busy (Sattudays near Grafton Street can be challenging) we managed to get some cool photos :)

Can’t wait to share the rest!! Hope you like it xx

S+E - Winter Wedding Perfection - Bellinter House Wedding Photographer, Ireland

s+e_bellinter_house_wedding_photographer_livia_figueiredo732.jpg
We knew Livia was special when we met her, but my
god she exceeded every expectation we had. We work with photographers a lot in our industry, so we had specific and high expectations for what we wanted our photos to be. We knew when she joined us in Galway for our engagement shoot that we had made the right choice in photographer. She is amazingly talented, listens to what you want, is extremely creative, and the way she captured the day was just superb. We didn’t want stuffy posed “weddingy” photos. We wanted photos that captured the sense of the day, our guests, and all the small special moments that would mean so much in the years to come. Livia did all of this beautifully and was so subtle in her approach on the day that half the time people didn’t even realise photos were being taken. She went so above and beyond on the day and post-wedding and the results were truly amazing.
— Sarah + Eoghan

This is for sure one of my most loved weddings I ever shot! There’s not one client that sees some of the pictures on my website and don’t tell me what a dream it is and I always says that they are definitely one to beat!

Sarah and Eoghan put so much time and effort to make their wedding to look exactly what they envisioned and there was so much of their personalities in every corner of Bellinter House, which by the way is one of my favourite wedding venues in Ireland, and you can definitely tell that when you look at the photos.

I hope you enjoy the photos and if you are planning a winter wedding this one is for sure one to take loads of inspiration from!!!

Two day wedding at Dublin City Centre | Dublin Wedding Photographer, Ireland.

Geraldine&John_467.JPG

If you have been following me awhile you will know I'm a sucker for city weddings. Dublin City weddings are not easy but they are one of my favourite ones to shoot because the city is constantly changing ad there's so much to see and gladly Geraldine and John share my opinion and they wanted to showcase a few of the many beautiful corners of the city centre for their portraits.

They had their ceremony at the University Church (which looks stunning!)  for the first day of the wedding then had to the Westbury for their drinks reception and finished off at The Residence for an intimate meal with their guests, the next day they had to Clontarf Castle where they party with a bunch of their friends and celebrated their wedding all over again!

Best of 2017 - Ireland Documentary Wedding Photographer

PRESS PLAY!!!!

Happy Valentine's Day! What more perfect day to finally release my Best of 2017!

2017 was such a important year in my career and it was one of my most intense ones as well, I met incredible people with some fantastic stories and together we created some of my favourites images so far.

From outdoor ceremonies in the sun, confetti shots, two day bashes, Dublin City elopements, winter weddings full of style and everything in between, 2017 was the year where I was able to document couples that were several years together finally starting a new journey and it's just such a blessing, really.

Being a photographer is not an easy job, I tell you. There's a constant weight (metaphorically and literally speaking - those cameras weight a ton, lol) of being the person who will document forever a spitting stone in two peoples lives and doing it in a respectful, creative and truthful way is not something that comes easily but I wouldn't do it in any other way.

Can't wait to see what 2018 has reserved of all of us, but I have a hunch that is going to be even more amazing!

Hope you all enjoy the images xx

D+G Moving Beaufield Mews LGBT Wedding - Dublin, Ireland

They've been together for more than 20 years and with the marriage referendum they finally were able to be married like everyone else.

The day was so filled with laughs and love and support and you could see the reason why these two were together for such a long time and I can't be more pleased to being able to document their love.
